Regional Diversity Roundtable

Our Story

How we started

We started in April 2005 with five DEI professionals who worked in the human services sector in Peel. They came together to provide support, professional development, networking and an infrastructure for those working in DEI and to pave a path for their organizations and others. As we began the work and growth of our collective network, we received initial funding from Human Resources Skills Development Canada and the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Indispensable support came from community partners including the Social Planning Council of Peel, Peel District School Board, United Way of Peel Region and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel. Our work gained momentum over the next years. In May 2012, we celebrate another milestone when we incorporated as a federal non-profit charitable organization. In 2017, RDR launched Peel150 Celebrating and Empowering Diverse Communities – as part of the Canada150 celebrations.
